Worcestershire off to a winning start (23/10/22)
Worcestershire youth got off to a flying start to the new season with a comfortable win over Merseyside. Having lost a couple of key players Lauren has been able to welcolme several new players and has a very strong healthy squad which was evedent in this match. The new format has the Girls throwing first so Enola Wilson who. looked a bit rusty and lost but i'm sure will be back to her best next time. Chloe Luscott threw in the following game and squared the match with a good 3 -0 win including good clinical finishing. With several girls away the was a devut for 8 year old Katie Cleary who had no neaves of going on stage and even though she loast took all of her games to doubles. which was a fine achievement for her. Under 18's were next on and with the team trailing needed to get off to a winning start. & new signing Joe Prichard - Morris was first on. but just couldn't find the winning touch and the visitors extended their lead in the match. Now two behind we were thinking our players were a bit rusty and the came could slip away fast so a win was vital. Chris Eacock stepped up to the oche next and played outstanding victory against a tough opponent which saw him hit an average of 25.27 including the days first 180. Jack Prichard was next on also making his debut but edged a close game 3-2 to level the overall match score. Yet another debutant Cayne Collins won 3-0 followed by Jack Alexander who won 3-1 averaging 20.14 including a 180 on his debut to seal a 4-1 win for the under 18's and there best start to a season. Worcestershire now 5 - 3 up overall just had the five under 21's to play Tom Garfield kept up his reliable form winning the opener 3- 0 with an impresive 25.05 average to keep the winning momentum for the host. Team Captain Harry Martin found it hard to get going in the first leg but still finnished and improved further to take a 3-0 win averaginging 20.88. Jack Barrows won the following game coming back from one leg down to win 3-1 including a 180 in his 23.06 average. Jason Meek had a very close game agaist a strong player and lost but still with an average of 23.33 nobody can fault the effort he put in. Ben Liggins put the icing on the cake with a 3 - 0 win to make it 4-1 win for the over 21's and a 9 - 4 victory for the team overall.

Bears lose thriller as Worcestershire remain unbeaten 18/12/22
Worcestershire traveled to Coventry home of Warwickshire in a top of the league clash with both teams having a good start to the season. The girls got off to a fab start with Hannah Meek playing her first match for the team this season and showing her class finnishing well and winning 3-0 with a 19.03 average..Chloe Luscott won the next and won the first leg comfortably with some excelent darts. although she dropped a leg with double trouble sh ran away a comfortable winner 3 - 1 in the end. the final girls game saw Enola Wilson lose 3 - 1 to Kacie O'Connor but Enola scored reasnably well nd the game was closer than the scoreline suggest. This was the first win for the girls this season and would be crucial factor to the conclusion of the match. Next up to play was the under 18's and Chris Eacock was first to step up and play for the visitors, although he was not at his best he still had enough in the bank to beat his opponent Owen Quinn 3-1 with an average of 18.36. Joe Pitcford Morris lost the next game 3-1 to Harry Franklin although this could have been the other way with Joe even averaging higher than his opponent with 20.67 but was unfortunate with his finishing. the next 3three games went the way of the host with George Edwards losing to highly rated Ben Gamble who hit an impresive 24.64 average then Jack alexander lost a close fought game 3-1 to Mitch Richardson followed by defeat for Cayne Collins in the final game. Hats off to the Warwickshire under 18's for a 4-1 win which saw some impresive performances. The host had now swung the match into a 5-3 lead to them so our under 21's needed to step up and dig in to get a result which was something they have done before but this Warickshire side was going to be a tough cookie to smash. Ben liggins stepped up first and seemed more relaxed with his throw this time than his last match. and breezed toa 3-0 vivtory.Tom Garfield stepped up next and hit a180 first throw and beat Sam mathews 3-0 ending up with a very respectable 25.05 average. to level the overall match score. Arron Murdock lost the next 3-0 and although Arron darts never landed too kindly for him his opponent Harry Earp was very cliniclal with scoring and finishing. Team Captain Harry Martin needed to show leadership to keep Worcestershire in the match and struggled first two legs to get to his best but eventualy he showed his tinacity to win 3-2 with a 21. 87 average. with the match all square at 6 -6 Jason Meek needed to have all aces in his hand to give the visitors the win and the Ace came up trumps with a hard fought 3-0 win which he just missed out on two high ton finnishes including just missing bull for a 170 but finished off the legs after with no hesitation. This Worcestershire side has a lot of metal and showed it again in this match.

Worcestershire pushed all the way by Plucky Staffordshire 22/01/23
Worcestershire still remain unbeaten this season but were made to work hard to keep the record going when Staffordshire visited and were determined not to be pushed over. The Girls got off to a winning start when Chloe Luscott kept her good season form going with a strong win followed by Enola Wilson getting a welcome win. With Hanah Meek away it gave young Honey Fox another chance to gain experience on the stage., although she lost she pushed her opponent all the way and missed out on the finishing in the deciding leg going down 3-2. The under 21's took to the stage next; Kolton Collins made his debut on the home stage and won 3-1 with some fine finishing. His brother Canye stepped up next and lost 3-2 in a set where either side could have easily pushed themselves to the finish line, but Canye's finishing just wasn't enough. Jack Alexander was next to the oche and brought back a convincing 3-0 win while playing a 20+ average in the set! Ciaran Luscott also grabbed a 3-0 win, again with a 20+ average in the U18s. Last U18 set and George Edwards lost 3-1, even with a 20+ average of his own but his opponent Jack Dolby was a real sniper on his doubles to send defeat to George. After the U18s, Worcestershire were 5-3 up heading into the U21s. Thomas Garfield opened up the atttack for the U21s, however leading 2-1 & seemingly in control he succumbed to his lack of firepower on the doubles and Zac Hargreaves snatched the first set in the U21s. 2nd was Jason Meek and it was a competitive set, which Jason got the final stretch in a 3-2 win, both players averaging 22+ in the process. Jack Barrows looked in control of his game, but faded away and lost 3-2 making the overall score in sets 6-5. The Skipper Harry Martin was needed to steady the ship and delivered winning 3-2, averaging 25.11 against an opponent who showed good standard and, confirming the overall win for Worcestershire! Last set was played out by Ben Liggins who, lost 3-1 but did average 21+, 2 points higher than his opponent & hit a 180 during the set. Both teams played an entertaining affair in good spirits & the home side are still unbeaten in the league!

Lancashire End Winning Streak (19/02/23)
Worcestershire youth were missing several key players as they were hoping to hit top of the league if they beat Lancashire in this top of the table clash.
Lancashire arrived with a very strong side and probably the largestf ollowing to visit the host so far this season. The girls went up to throw first and Honey Fox lost the opener but gave it her best but the Lancashire Captain Eleanor Cairns was in top form and sent an example for the rest of her team to follow with a 3 dart average of over 75. The host responded instantly with Chloe Luscott keeping her good form up with a 3-0 win hitting the bull to finish in the last leg. Although starting off a bit nearvously, Enola Wilson settled down to finish well in her set to win 3 - 0 and give the girls a 2-1 win and the same lead overall for the team. The under 18's were missing a couple of players and Hannah Meek step in from the girls and showed she can mix it at all levels with 3-1 win and respectable 60 plus 3 dart average.putting the team 3-1 up overall, Unfortunatly this was the start of Lancashires fight back with them taking the next four sets although Worcetershires players gave good accounts of theirselves they were out finished by clinical finnishing by the Lancashire ubder 18 players. Chris Eacock, George Edwards, Ciaran Luscott & Kolton Collins all put in good efforts with some very respectable averages but were beaten by a group of determined players at the top of their game on the day. With the Under 18's losing 4-1 and the overall match score swinging to a 5 sets to 3 lead for the visitors the presure was on the under 21's to try and turn the game back towards Worcestershire. Making his first under 21's stage appearence of the season was Sam Crompton who showed nerves and struggled to find his rythum against an opponent who finnished well to take a 3-0 win and exstend Lancashires lead.Team Captain Harry Martin stepped up to the oche next and although he started gingerly he fought hard against another tough opponent and came through to win 3-0 including a 180 maximum. Jack A was another casualty suffering on finishing in a tough battle which saw him edged out 3 -2. nother game that lleft us head scratching on how well a player can play without reward followed as Jason Meek was defeated 3 - 0 with a three dart average just short of 70. With defeat for the host confirmed Ben Liggins stepped up to try and narrow the winning margin. He delivered with a 3-0 winand respectable average to end the match with the under 21's losing 3-2 and Worcestershire losing 8 - 5 overaall. Credit to Lancashire for bringing so many down on there long journy and creating a good atmosphere and excellent standard of darts.

SPORTING BEN BOWS TO BEARS (23/04/23)
With the last two matches being postponed a rusty Worcestershire had to dust therselves off for a tough match against Warwickshire who would be out for revenge from the home defeat againt todays host in the last encounter. The Warickshire girls ade a good start winning 2-1 with Enola Wilson taking the only girls game. The under 18's came on next and were edged out 2 - 3 with severall close games whih could swayed the result the other way. Ciaran Luscott was star man winning 3 legs to 1 with a dart average of 24.20 leaving the overall score at 3 - 5 to Warwickshire. Finally the under 21's had the task to try and overturn the deficet. Worcestershire oer 21's won 3- 2 but this was not enough to swing the overall result although a crucial moment of genuine sportsmanship in the game when Ben Liggins leading his game saw his opponent struggling and in dispear put his sporting nature first and put his arm around his opponent and gave him some encouragement only to see him be inspired to find the form to win while Ben struggled to finish. Final scores on the doors Worcestershire 6 - 7 Warwickshire but i think we will agree that sportsmanship takes the headlines today.
